Sunnyvale Cottage is a 250 year old delightful mews cottage nestled in the heart of the old village on a quiet cul-de-sac. Built in the eighth year of the reign of Queen Anne and steeped in sea lore, it is a former residence of the Storm family, one of the most prominent (and apt!) seafaring names in the Bay.
The house was also once home to a William Todd Anderson, skipper of 'The Visitor', famously wrecked off the Bay in 1881 with the crew eventually being saved in one of the most dramatic and courageous lifeboat recues in local history.
Even the Bolts has its own unique interest, so named because it was the principle escape route for smuggles fleeing Customs and Excise officers and for local lads avoiding the marauding Press Gang.
Today Sunnyvale Cottage provides a tranquil bolt hole and perfect holiday base for exploring the coast and North Yorkshire Moors.
The property is typical of the Bay displaying many original features such as shipboard panelling, stone walls and cosy corners.
Sunnyvale Cottage comfortably sleeps six with a separate recently refurbished dining kitchen annexed to the main house within a patio garden overlooking Kings Beck.
The patio is south facing and captures the sun until just before it sets. Within the kitchen is a separate utility room with washing machine, clothes airer, iron and ironing board. It is an ideal place to store wellies and coats out of sight.
